SDM Hospital has state of art blood storage facilities. It is equipped to store whole blood and its components like platelets, packed red cells, frozen plasma, etc. For every Blood storage facility, a temperature-controlled storage area is important. In the SDM Hospital Blood Storage division, we have established a refrigeration unit for blood storage purposes. The hospital storage unit has helped in the immediate availability of required blood and the transfusion phase for many patients.

The department provides assistance 24×7 and has also helped in providing blood to patients in nearby hospitals as well. SDM also conducts blood donation camps every year and many participate and help in the welfare of society.

BLOOD STORAGE AND TRANSFUSION SERVICES

The department at the Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Hospital, Ujire is licensed by the Drug Controller Licensing Authority, Karnataka. Daily, weekly and monthly quality controls are meticulously followed in various sections to maintain quality. All the critical equipment is monitored every four hours for their correctness.

Proper patient blood management and principles of rational use of blood and blood components are being implemented, advocated and audited by the department from time to time.
